Appalachian Mountain Club

Formed in 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club is America’s oldest conservation organization. We are nearly 90,000 members in 12 chapters, 20,000 volunteers, and over 450 full time and seasonal staff. Our chapters reach from Maine to Washington D.C.

Our southern New England office in South Egremont, MA works to be a resource to local trail maintenance, building, and advocacy efforts. We work to engage teenagers in the outdoors and environmental stewardship though our Berkshire Teen Trail Crew program. Every summer, about 60 teens volunteer to spend a week in the woods with us doing heavy reconstructive trail work.

We are delighted to be involved with Great Barrington Trails and Greenways and are committed to the vision of a more pedestrian and bike-friendly community. With our trail skills and full tool shed, we are glad to offer trainings and work parties and any other assistance we can to this great effort!
